Donor Terms

The short version. Your donation is a personal gift to the team, not a tax-deductible charitable contribution. The money goes directly into the team's own Stripe account — DugoutHQ never holds it. If you need a tax-deductible gift, give through the club's governing charitable organization instead.

1. Who you're giving to

You are giving to the team or club that published the fundraising page, not to DugoutHQ. DugoutHQ makes the software the team uses to publish that page.

2. Where the money goes

Donations made here are personal gifts to the team and are not tax-deductible charitable contributions. No goods or services are provided in exchange. DugoutHQ does not hold, take custody of, or control these funds — payments are processed directly into the team's own Stripe account, and the team is responsible for how they're used.

Payments are processed by Stripe. The team is the merchant of record. DugoutHQ collects a platform service fee, which is disclosed to you before you pay, and nothing else.

3. Your gift is not tax-deductible

Donations made through a team's fundraising page are personal gifts. They are not tax-deductible charitable contributions, and no goods or services are provided in exchange. DugoutHQ is not a charity, does not issue tax receipts, and makes no representation about the tax treatment of your gift.

Need a tax-deductible gift? Those have to go through the club's governing charitable organization, under their own process — not through this page. Where a team links to such an organization, that information comes from the team: DugoutHQ does not verify or vouch for any organization's charitable status, and showing the link is not a statement that a gift made there is deductible. Ask them, or your tax advisor.

4. Refunds

DugoutHQ does not issue refunds. If something is wrong with your donation, contact the team first — they set and honor their own refund policy. If you believe a charge was fraudulent, contact your bank or card issuer. A refund or chargeback reverses the gift in the team's records.

Note that processing fees are not returned when a donation is refunded or disputed — that's how card processing works, not a choice we make. A refunded gift therefore costs the team a little, and the platform service fee isn't returned either.

5. What's shown publicly

Unless you choose to give anonymously, your name and any message you write appear on the public fundraising page, along with the amount you gave. Your email address is never published. You can give anonymously — there's a checkbox on the donation form — in which case your name is replaced with "Anonymous" and no amount is tied to you. You can also ask us or the team to remove a published message later.

6. What teams may not do

Teams may not use these pages to run raffles, lotteries, sweepstakes, drawings, auctions, or any other game of chance or wager, to solicit for an organization they don't represent, or to misstate how the money will be used. They also may not use these pages to raise money for or on behalf of a registered charity — this is crowdfunding for a team, and every page is published with a confirmation to that effect. If you think a page is doing any of these, use the Report this page link on it.

7. Receipts

You'll get an emailed receipt for your records. It is a payment receipt, not a tax receipt. We use your email address for that receipt and any necessary follow-up about the gift — we do not add you to a marketing list.
